Saw Palmetto is a herb that grows in the southern USA (it is also known as the American dwarf palm tree). Its fruit is used as one of the common supplements for men wanting to protect their prostate.
Saw Palmetto is often thought to treat prostate problems, but there is not much medical evidence for this. However, it has been confirmed in tests as reducing the symptoms of prostate problems, which is why it is an ingredient in many medical treatments prescribed in Europe.
Saw Palmetto helps reduce these prostate symptoms: reduced urine flow, dribbling after urination, increases in prostate size, and being unable to completely empty bladder. And so it also reduces the need to urinate at night, and the lost sleep associated with this.
Do not take Saw Palmetto expecting it to cure prostate problems, but it should be taken to reduce the symptoms that can come from having a swollen or inflamed prostate.
