Cruciferous vegetables like Broccoli contain a chemical called Di-Indole Methane or DIM. In dozens of studies, DIM has proved to restore a balance between testosterone and oestrogen in men. Testosterone is the male sex hormone, oestrogen the female one. As men get older, testosterone productions drops while oestrogen production rises.

This leads to what is often called the male menopause – loss of energy, muscle mass, and libido. These can lead to a loss of sexual performance.

But this change to higher levels of oestrogen also makes the body produce more 5-alpha-reductase, and this turns testosterone into a variant called DHT. DHT is known to increase prostate swelling.

The DIM in Broccoli will slow down testosterone loss and reduces DHT levels, meaning better libido and less risk of prostate swelling.

I recommend eating cruciferous vegetables like Broccoli 3 to 4 times a week (this is a good recommendation for general health too). Steam the vegetables to reduce the risk of reducing DIM levels.
